OUR SERVICES

Environmental Inspection & Full-Service Support

  • Asbestos

Asbestos is found in many different building materials including wall and ceiling texture, flooring products and adhesives, insulation, siding, roofing materials, etc.  Since asbestos is invisible to the naked eye, there is no way to accurately determine the presence of asbestos without an asbestos inspection. The US EPA and OSHA regulate the disturbance of asbestos containing materials, regardless of the age of the building.  Whether you are planning a renovation that will require the disturbance of any building materials, or your building has suffered some sort of damage, it is best to have a thorough asbestos inspection prior to starting renovations or repairs.

EICS’s local asbestos inspectors in Reno, Nevada are trained and certified to conduct thorough asbestos surveys to determine if you have asbestos, the condition of the materials, and how to properly remove or manage the materials.

Following professional abatement by a State licensed asbestos abatement contractor of your choice, we also offer a final asbestos air clearance to verify the health and safety of the environment after abatement is complete. We will collect air samples that will be analyzed by an accredited laboratory to determine that the fiber counts within the contained work area are within regulatory compliance.

We will provide you with the necessary reports and laboratory results needed as part of your building or demolition permit.

We also offer asbestos air clearance to verify the health and safety of the environment after construction, remodeling, or remediation work is complete. We will come take air samples to determine air quality levels and provide the verification reports needed to receive any necessary clearances or permits.

  • Mold

If you have confirmed or suspected mold-related issues in your building such as unusual odors, water damage, or allergy-like symptoms that disappear after vacating the building, it is important to have a mold inspection.

Mold inspections consist of a thorough process in which we complete a visual inspection looking for evidence of mold or conditions that are conducive to fungal activity that can produce and sustain mold growth. We follow this with moisture readings of finishing/building materials, and collect indoor air quality and tape-lift samples.

Our local mold inspectors in Reno, Nevada are certified and experienced to properly inspect environments and produce clear mold inspection summary reports to guide remediation and ensure thorough removal.

Following professional remediation by a certified mold removal or water damage restoration contractor of your choice, we also offer a final mold air clearance to verify the health and safety of the environment after remediation is complete. We will collect air samples that will be analyzed by an accredited laboratory to determine that the spore counts within the contained work area are within proper parameters.

We will provide you with the reports and laboratory results detailing our inspection and findings.

  • Lead Paint

Homes and commercial buildings built before 1978 have a high probability of containing lead-based paint and can even be found hiding under multiple layers of new paint.  Unfortunately, even if the lead-based paint is covered with other coats of paint, it can still be dangerous as lead is highly toxic and can cause severe health problems if it is disturbed or damaged. Like asbestos, disturbance of lead-based and lead-containing paint are regulated by both the EPA and OSHA.  Our team is trained; and certified to conduct lead-hazard risk assessments, or project specific lead surveys.  With the use of a state-of-the-art XRF analyzer we can determine the presence of  lead-based paint without damaging materials.  We can also collect samples of dust, soil, and water to determine the presence of lead contamination.

Following professional remediation or removal of lead-based or lead-containing paint by an EPA lead-safe certified contractor we also offer a final lead clearance to verify the health and safety of the environment after removal is complete. We will collect dust/soil samples that will be analyzed by an accredited laboratory to determine that the lead content within the contained work area is within regulatory compliance.

  • Meth

The process for manufacturing methamphetamine involves dangerous chemicals and reagents that are extremely harmful to humans. Unfortunately, the residues that remain on surfaces after the cooking process and personal usage can remain for months or even years after. In the last 10 years there has been a massive increase in the number of self-built drug labs leaving unsuspecting tenants, homeowners, and employees at risk of serious health conditions. We work with property managers, building owners, and realtors to perform comprehensive meth testing for homes and buildings. Through surface sampling we can test for meth in homes and buildings and provide the information owners need to make sure their environment is safe.

  • Radon

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is the second highest overall cause of lung cancer in the U.S. Unfortunately, what makes Radon so dangerous is that it is both colorless and odorless which means it can easily go undetected. If you suspect the presence of radon or just want to ensure your home or building is not exposed, our local radon testing team in Reno, NV can perform thorough inspection.

  • HEPA Filters

HEPA filters in negative air machines and HEPA vacuums used for abatement or remediation should be regularly inspected for damage, and challenged tested

to ensure they are not leaking harmful elements into the work area or environment. We offer challenge testing (DOP Testing) for such HEPA filters to make sure they are filtering 99.97% of contaminants like asbestos, mold, lead paint, and more.

  • Environmental Consulting

EICS provides environmental inspection services designed to help your construction/remodeling project achieve and maintain environmental compliance. We collect samples of the materials planned for disturbance/demolition, then follow through to guide abatement efforts (if needed).

Initial Building Inspections - We will thoroughly inspect for harmful elements and provide the reports needed to guide your next steps.

Final Clearances-  We provide final inspections with clearance testing after remediation or abatement to validate the health and safety of the building environment.

  • Project Design

EICS Environmental Inspection supports your team throughout all the stages of the project. We start the process with a job walk mapping out each area, as well as identifying the materials and estimated number of samples needed. We then advise your team on the best plan of action for each stage from sampling and inspection to final clearance, and the regulatory requirements needed for permits.

  • Project Oversight

Most contractors are well-versed in the overall construction and remodeling process but may be unfamiliar with EPA and OSHA regulatory requirements for asbestos and lead-based paint.

We offer oversight of the abatement/removal or remediation project that may include periodic site visits as needed, or continual oversight to ensure the project is being performed per design intent. We work with you to mitigate compliance risks through project oversight.  Services may include perimeter air monitoring, daily activity reports, and verification of worker certifications.
